You can see a traditional ceremony performed in the villages to celebrate the adulthood (25-30 years old).
(more details in Portuguese)

This popular festival is a significant event within the village community, often celebrated privately, but sometimes is open to different ethnic groups and to visitors.

It is important to remember that you are not watching theatricals, but a social ceremony, so you must behave respectfully and follow the directions of your guide and of those in charge of welcoming tourists.

The ceremony can last several days and usually includes music, dances, proof of adulthood such as fights with traditional colorful costumes.

At times villagers might invite visitors to the common lunch in the central square, with typical dishes.
